WEEK 38 “THERE IS REDEMPTION IN THE LORD!”

(Read Numbers 16:1-40 (vs 27-32), Jude 1:11, Numbers 26:11, 1 Chronicles 6:31-38, 1 Samuel 1:1,20)

This is the story of KORAH’S REBELLION, the son of Izhar (Numbers 16:1). He led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron, dishonouring the godly leadership that God had put in place (Numbers 16:40)!! This led to him and his followers being swallowed up by the earth in God’s judgement (Numbers 16:27-32) and his mistake being warned about in Jude 1:11 as the judgement that will come on false prophets!!

But just when you think the story ends there and all hope was lost, God had other plans. THERE IS HOPE OF REDEMPTION WITH THE LORD!!

Despite Korah’s rebellion in Numbers 16 and he and his followers being swallowed up by the earth in judgement from the Lord, Numbers 26:11 tells us that THE LINE OF KORAH DID NOT DIE OUT!! In fact, 1 Chronicles 6:31-38 and 1 Samuel 1:1 tells us that not only did the prophet Samuel descend from the line of Korah, but that according to 1 Chronicles 6:31-38, the SONS OF KORAH (his descendants) ministered with music before the tabernacle in King David’s time! These are the same SONS OF KORAH who wrote 11 of the Psalms (Psalm 42, 44-49, 84-85, 87-88)!

This echoes the words of Ezekiel 18:1-32 that the sons won’t be held accountable for the sins of the father if they walk in righteousness!! YAHWEH TRULY IS THE GOD OF MERCY AND REDEMPTION!! He can redeem your family’s past mistakes through you as well, for all those who repent and put their full trust in Jesus for salvation!!
