READ PSALM 19
Psalm 19:1- “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”
This psalm describes the wordless and wordful revelation of our wonderful Heavenly Father's glory!!
What is interesting to note is that in the first 6 verses, God is referred to in the general sense using the word “El” as He reveals Himself through creation. Yet, in vs 7-11 God is referred to by His personal title of “ Yahweh” or “Yehovah” (the title used in Exodus 3:15 told to Moses) as He reveals Himself more intimately through His word and transforms our lives!! This reminds us that it is through scripture that God reveals Himself in a more intimate way (as oppose to creation).
READ PSALM 19
1.WORDLESS REVELATION: (General Revelation to all man-kind)
In verses 1-6 our Heavenly Father tells us that just by looking up into the sky and seeing the countless number of stars, the moon, the brilliantly shining sun (that rises and sets like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion and champion running his course vs 6) and His amazing universe, we should be able to recognise His glory, His handiwork and know that He lives!!
'The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.' (Psalm 19:1)
King David understood this when He spoke in Psalm 8:3-4 'When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?'
Verse 3-4 in Psalm 19 tell us that the beautiful thing about this heavenly sign that God has shown us, is that it is understood IRRESPECTIVE OF THE LANGUAGE WE SPEAK or nation we come from.
This could also be why our Heavenly Father says through Paul in Romans 1:20, that men are without excuse for not knowing that He lives, based on the way He has made creation!!
2.WORDFUL REVELATION: (Special Revelation)
Verses 7-11 remind us of God's written revelation of His glory to us, as He reminds us what His word (the bible) does for us!! (REVIVES our soul, makes us WISE, gives JOY to our hearts and LIGHT to our eyes, and WARNS us). His word transforms us!
3.Verses 12-14 becomes OUR RESPONSE to seeing and hearing God's wordless and wordful revelation of Himself.
The only response we can give is SELF EXAMINATION of ourselves, REPENTANCE and asking for FORGIVENESS (vs 12-13), and
living to please our wonderful King in ACTION and HEART (vs 14).
HAVE YOU LOOKED UP INTO THE SKY RECENTLY? WHAT WILL YOUR RESPONSE BE TO OUR WONDERFUL KING JESUS?
“May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.” (Psalm 19:14)
